A symbol of hope
a small bird in your garden
a long way North you think
making you smile
A navy wren on duty
helping the war effort
smart and caring
a symbol of hope
Seeing one there
a small delicate bird
the weight of a pound coin
yet that loud voice
singing full of joy
Wrens are so common
that we don’t see them
or hear them
yet they have been with us
since the ice age
Not navy wrens
but those small birds
some sedentary
some flying 1500 miles
Living in special nests
