Age UK Salford calling for volunteers to join the team at Critchley Community Hub

Age UK Salford is looking for volunteers to join the team at Critchley Community Hub.

Someone who knows all about volunteering at Critchley Community Hub is Patricia Whatmough, who has been a part of the team since 2017.

Pat started volunteering after her retirement and wanted to get involved with helping people.

She said: “I get a lot of pleasure going to the centre and spending time with our team and talking to the people who come in. We are like one big happy family.”

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service held at GORTON MONASTERY in Manchester

The volunteers at Critchley were awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, in 2018, the highest award given to volunteer groups, in recognition of their dedication and selfless commitment.

During the pandemic, many of the normal volunteering roles could not continue at the hub, either due to changes to services or volunteers needing to shield, however, volunteers continued to play an important role wherever possible.

As the charity navigates its way out of the pandemic, volunteers are needed more than ever to meet the increased demand for Age UK Salford services, and are looking for community-minded people to join our team of volunteers at Critchley.

Jean Fitzsimmons, a volunteer for the charity, said: “I feel like I’m doing good whilst meeting new people. It gets me out of the house and I enjoy being part of the Critchley community.”

Do you have skills you can share or are looking to develop new skills and meet new people along the way?
