Community champion video stars needed in Wigan and Tameside

Are you a local activist, community champion, volunteer or are you always helping others in Tameside OR Wigan? Know someone else who fits the bill?

Talking About My Generation community newsroom and the Greater Manchester Older Persons Network (GMOPN) are collaborating once again in 2022 to recreate a campaign that they worked on last year.

The campaign showed that activism has no ‘look’ attached – everyone can be an activist. It was all about positive actions towards climate change with the added theme of age and breaking stereotypes.

The groups are recreating the videos starring people in Wigan and one in Tameside – this time beyond the theme of climate change.

We’re looking to showcase to people of all ages and all walks of life who are doing their bit for the community and making a difference – to showcase in a video and on social media channels.

It doesn’t matter how large or small your action is – from promoting green ways of travelling; running a local community group; championing your local shops, arts and culture; to litter picking – we’d love to speak with you about being showcased!

The team are looking for pairs of people, so if you already have a pair in mind like in the video above, let us know. If not, we will look for someone to team you up with during filming.

Filming will commence in February 2022 and our team will aim to come to you.

If you don’t wish to star in the video but would like to be featured in our social media campaign, please send a photograph of yourself along with you name/location/age and what you do for your community or local area to [email protected]

If you would like to be featured in our campaign or know someone who would, please contact [email protected] to find out more.
