If you missed the big news… our fabulous news team has been crowned with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
As the UK’s first older people’s-led news team, covering news, views and nostalgia from across Greater Manchester, all while challenging ageist stereotypes, we are delighted that the hard and consistent work of our volunteers has been recognised and celebrated.
We had an overwhelming reaction on social media and between the team itself and we would like to share these with you.
Angela Rayner, Deputy Leader for Labour, was quick to show her support!
Huge congratulations to @MyGenerationGM for their Queen’s Award. They are the UK’s first older people’s-led news team and do fantastic work to #ChangeTheRecord on ageing across Greater Manchester. 👏🏻#PlatinumJubilee https://t.co/xpgRicDdGo

Trafford Councillor Jo Harding also backed us.
I’ve worked alongside @MyGenerationGM such a fabulous way to get older people involved in community issues. Hope we can do more work together now I’m leading on the Partnerships work in Trafford 🙌 https://t.co/9MMDJydw0o
