Reaction to Talking About My Generation winning Queen’s Award

If you missed the big news… our fabulous news team has been crowned with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

As the UK’s first older people’s-led news team, covering news, views and nostalgia from across Greater Manchester, all while challenging ageist stereotypes, we are delighted that the hard and consistent work of our volunteers has been recognised and celebrated.

We had an overwhelming reaction on social media and between the team itself and we would like to share these with you.

Angela Rayner, Deputy Leader for Labour, was quick to show her support!

Trafford Councillor Jo Harding also backed us.

We were pleased to see a tweet from the official Queen’s Award twitter page.

Here is our reporter’s video reaction…

And lots of love was shared in our news team group chat too…

We were also pleased to be featured by South Manchester News and Manchester World.
