Wedding Memories

When I walked down the aisle holding onto my dad’s arm,

I felt quite emotional and also quite calm.

He was giving me away after 21 years,

We both knew then that this would bring tears.

It didn’t bother dad, because he knew in his mind,

I was going to a man who was one of a kind.

The vows we said then still stand to this day,

We did it all the old fashioned way.

In sickness and in health is what we both said,

Til death do us part is the bit we both dread.

We’d do it all again tomorrow if we had the chance,

But my dads no longer here to give me away, or have a dance.
