As Easter is around the corner, it got me thinking about Bob a Job week.
It was around Easter time when it happened so the weather meant the cubs and Scouts could do menial jobs like gardening, shopping, a few household chores and even walking the dog for a shilling (worth about £1.35 pence now).
Family and neighbours would be lined up ready for the young person with their little paper book to list the jobs that they have and their stickers (usually in packs of 6)
When the job was finished the book would be marked up and one of the stickers put into the front window, so that another cub or scout didn’t call to ask for another job.
Who remembers Bob a Job week?
